The Island of San Giorgio in Venice Thursday, December 15th San Giorgio Maggiore island lies just across from St. Mark's Square. It is one of Venice's icons. It was photographed, shot in films, and painted by Monet, Turner and others. The island's long history starts with the Romans. Then the first church was built in 829. The curren church in all its magnificence is the work of Andrea Palladio the great. Get ready for Snap Time as we go to the campo in front of the church. The view over the city is second to none. More snaps ahead as we see the interior of the church, the harbour. Our finale is the glasswork in "Le Stanze del Vetro" exhibition hall.

Coming Soon Travel Mazzorbo, Burano's untraveled neighbour Sunday, December 18th Let's join Giacomo in Mazzorbo, a not so known island in Venice! Burano's coloured houses are known to many. But next to it is the island of Mazzorbo, with a rural vibe still in the air. We will walk along the bank of the Mazzorbo canal to show some fine rural houses and get to the beautiful church of Santa Caterina with its distinctive ogee roof. Mazzorbo is also home to vineyards and to a noteworthy complex of council houses designed by the Venetian architect Giancarlo De Carlo. Only true Venetians might know of Mazzorbo - and even locals rarely make it to Mazzorbo. So take my word for it, you are in for a treat.

Magdalena Peninsula: Beauty & Horror in Northern Spain Monday, December 19th This breathtaking peninsula in Santander is the site of the historic Magdalena Palace, built between 1908 and 1913 to be the summer home of the king of Spain. But the magnificent royal residence is only one of the attractions of this almost-isolated spit of land, which has now become essentially a public park. The natural beauty of the sea cliffs and beaches, the gardens and woodland, and the former stables in the style of a medieval English village are all only part of the peninsula’s charm. There are also collections of sea lions, seals, and penguins in some of the best housing for such creatures anywhere. Let's enjoy it!
